º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s drawing and painting courses explore the expression of 2D artworks through a process-forward teaching method. From quick sketches to polished studies, students progress from emotive mark-making through observational techniques and into narrative visual language and complex conceptual projects. Each course helps students develop their skills while promoting self-reflection.
The printmaker’s surface—whether copper plate, plexiglass plate, wood block, or linoleum block—offers an array of possibilities for artistic expression. The elements of art and the clear communication of one’s ideas are pursued with the intaglio and/or relief printmaking techniques. Through the development and revision of a plate or block and the repetition of the printing process, students will learn both traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques.
Design is a mode of communication and a method of storytelling. Utilizing cultural context via history, case studies, and research, students can deepen their understanding of how visual design acts as a vehicle for communication and a way to shape society by investigating typographic images, architecture, and the clothing they wear.
