Gen Yoshimura is a Japanese drummer, composer, and educator based in Boston. After moving to the United States to study at Berklee College of Music, where he earned his bachelor's of music, and Longy School of Music of Bard College, wher hear earned his master's of music, he established himself as a versatile performer fluent in jazz, Latin music, fusion, and pop. Throughout his career, he has performed with numerous internationally acclaimed artists, including Fernando Huergo, Walter Smith, Kris Davis, Oscar Stagnaro, Bruno Raberg, and many others. A career highlight came when his performance on Fernando Huergo's big band album The Possibility of Change was featured alongside recordings by Pat Metheny, Fred Hersch, and Bobby Watson in Jazz Artistry Now's "Best of Jazz 2020." As an educator, Gen serves on the faculty of New England Conservatory's preparatory and continuing education programs, teaching ensembles and giving private lessons. He has also presented clinics and master classes for Berklee College of Music, including its Summer Drum and Percussion Workshop.
